And so, this is the final OVA episode for the first season of Shingeki no Kyojin, and we first start off with this goon trying to make Krista Lenz as a hostage…
And yes, most of the trainees who got their belly stuffed back in Ep. 3.25 are in a bind so to speak!
You see, they’re on a relay training mission where a group of trainees are split into two teams, travel to a pre-determined area, gather and exchange reports, and finally returning to base.
Unfortunately for Marco’s team, he’s having trouble coordinating with the likes of Eren and Jean, just a name of few.
Meanwhile, Thomas’ team are well-composed and most of its members are highly-skilled like Mikasa Ackerman and Annie Leonhardt.
But anyways, they were robbed by bandits in which they took their gear plus Krista. Talk about bad luck!
So, what will Marco’s team would do? Sure that they can retreat and report this incident to the instructor.
But nope, they’re going to save their gear and Krista ’cause they can’t let a soldier left behind the battlefield! A good decision made by the team thanks to Eren’s determination to succeed without failure.
And so, they made an ambush to get their gear and eventually Krista. However, the bandits won’t go down without the fight, which is why this episode lead to the point where Krista was held at knife-point.
Well, there’s goes saving Krista…
Scratch that, seems that they’ll be saving Krista after all as Marco’s team got reinforcements!
Yup, it’s checkmate for those bandits and now they’re arrested for theft, pillage, and attempted kidnapping.
Of course, it wouldn’t be possible without Armin’s quick-thinking by asking Thomas’ team for assistance, so give him a thumbs-up for his brilliance! Maybe he’ll become a great strategist someday.
With that, it’s the end of Shingeki no Kyojin OVA series. While the first batch of OVAs filled in the gap between Eps. 3 and 4, it gives more insight on untold events of this series, not to mention having a few laughs at that Mister Ajikko parody in Ep. 3.25.
Also, having three OVA episodes is a good number compared to 9+ episodes (I’m looking at you, Seitokai Yakuindomo).
But that’s about it for this first batch of OVA episodes as we now wait for the second season in a not-so distant future, after the compilation movies of course. While we’re at it, seems that Shingeki no Kyojin will end in 3 to 4 years unless the mangaka was pressured to extend it.
One last note, this would be the last time I’ll be seeing Marco Bott. I’ll be missing him, he’s such a good character before being eaten by a titan!
