Something weird is happening in Ginza, Tokyo…
Ladies and gentlemen, let’s start the Summer quarter of 2015 with a light novel adaptation which you might be familiar with Ichiro Sakaki’s Outbreak Company.
Anyways, let’s start with this guy named Youji Itami who happened to be an otaku and a Self-Defense Force soldier. He supposed to go to the doujinshi exhibit and buy goods from his favorite anime series…
…until these guys showed up, which they attacked innocent civilians with nothing but swords and arrows. Oh, and not to mention dragons too!
Naturally, people got panicked and they’re being killed left and right, and the capital is on a brink of a mass-murder!
So what did Itami-san do? Well, Youji did what he have trained to do by saving lives and stopping the enemy on its tracks! Of course, he’ll have to miss the doujinshi event which was cancelled due to this incident.
But hey, the good news is that Itami-san became a hero and he got a chance to go into another world as part of an expedition sponsored by the JSDF.
And speaking of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, the author is a former soldier who has extreme right-wing views that doesn’t sit well to its neighbors. Glad that the novel was toned-down when it was published by a small company, but I’m still worried that GATE might generate controversy much like Mahouka and Kantai Collection.
In any case, it’s a good start from A-1 Pictures in regards to this adaptation. And speaking of A-1 Pictures, when will they make the second half/season of Nanoha ViVid?
Anyways, onto next week’s episode as Youji and his military buddies are exploring beyond the gate! Oh, and those monsters will get sprayed by lead and shrapnel like it’s nothing!
