The 7th Generation Yakumo Yurakutei, sure that he ousted Sukeroku for being a brash and know-it-all rakugo performer, who rather see him on the streets than inheriting his stage name. However…
Seems that karma has hit the 7th Generation as he collapsed after his performance. Well, Yakumo had it coming but there’s more to that!
Just before he breathed his last, the 7th Generation told Kikuhiko that there’s a person who wanted to inherit the stage name from his father, the 6th Generation Yakumo Yurakutei, by becoming an apprentice.
The 6th Generation’s apprentice was very talented that he started to learn rakugo in order to please his father. Ultimately, he became the 7th Generation Yakumo Yurakutei and as for the former apprentice, that person became Sukeroku who teach Shin the basics of rakugo.
In any case, the 7th Generation Yakumo was very regretful regarding Sukeroku that he shed tears before passing away. It would be better if he has a chance to forgive Sukeroku and Hatsutaro, but it’s already too late!
With that said, the 7th Generation Yakumo Yurakutei has died from illness and it’s already expected for Kikuhiko to inherit the stage name of his master, although he’ll do his own way of rakugo. Long live the 7th Generation Yakumo Yurakutei!
On that note, the 8th Generation Yakumo has decided to search for Sukeroku who went to the countryside together with Miyokichi…
However, what he found at the local soba restaurant was a girl who performed just like Sukeroku. This girl is named Konatsu and she might lead to her real parents on the next episode I hope!
