And look, he made his return in style and the crowd love it! But you know what, his recital of “Shibahama” is somewhat related to his current life.
The only thing he could do is start a new life by getting a decent job, but it’s Sukeroku’s time to shine once again at the rakugo stage!
In any case, he received a big applause from the crowd including his daughter Konatsu. Then again, seems that Miyokichi didn’t bother showing support to Sukeroku…
That’s because she’s here to see Kikuhiko again and have an affair with him. Not a very good idea there and also, Miyokichi should turn a new leaf instead of being a prostitute!
Oh and one more thing, she’s going to commit suicide together with Kikuhiko.
You know, Miyokichi has many chances to have a decent life, but she blew it because she relied on men and dupe them where Miyokichi has the opportunity.

In fact, he called Miyokichi’s real name: Yuria. But then again, Sukeroku is gonna fall down too…
But not until Kikuhiko decides to save both of them and start a new life again back in Tokyo. I mean, he doesn’t like being alone as Kikuhiko wants company despite their circumstances!
Unfortunately, it’s too little too late as Sukeroku let go of Kikuhiko’s hand and fall straight down together with Miyokichi.
Sooner or later, Konatsu will hate Kikuhiko for letting her parents die, but of course Sukeroku chose death to be with Miyo- I mean Yurie was his personal decision as he doesn’t want seeing his wife go to hell alone. Thus, this is how the term “lover’s suicide” played out on this series.
In any case, that’s the end of this penultimate episode. Next episode, I feel that it’s time to go back to the present now that Kiku- I mean the 8th Generation Yakumo Yurakutei told his backstory to Yotarou and Konatsu!
