Hey guys, I was supposed to watch this show only and not blog it on a regular basis. But after watching the first episode, I’m impressed that Tetsurou Araki and WIT Studio did a great job on its premiere!
So ladies and gentlemen, this is Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress where it’s somewhat resembled Shingeki no Kyojin (or Attack on Titan) due to having Araki directing this original anime series.
And while the visuals and the premise are the same as Shingeki no Kyojin, the difference is that the characters of this show will have to deal with zombies called Kabane where the only weak-point is the heart. Unfortunately, the heart is protected with an iron layer so it’ll be hard for steam guns to penetrate it!
Apart from the Kabane, the world of Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is different where trains are used to travel across the island of Hinomoto from station to station. Basically, they’re not stuck inside the wall most of the time!
Anyways, this is Ikoma who is a train mechanic got caught in a Kabane crisis in his hometown. Also, he wants to try out his new weapon that’ll penetrate the Kabane’s iron heart.
It did work out on his first try against a lone Kabane. However, Ikoma got bitten and he’s about to become one of them!
So, Ikoma decided to emulate Shinichi Izumi by stopping the virus from reaching his brain. He succeeded though but part of Ikoma’s hair turned to gray as a result of halting the Kabane virus.
With that said, Ikoma has accomplished something that no other bushi can do: Kill a Kabane with his new weapon that’s far effective than a steam gun, and survive the infection instead of killing himself or becoming a Kabane himself!
Anyways, this series is a must-watch and coupled with Hiroyuki Sawano’s music and Haruhiko Mikimoto’s character design, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress might become one of the best anime series should they keep it up!
Now then, I’ll see you next week as Ikoma rushes towards the locomotive and escape safely. Oh, and he might encounter Mumei along the way! Don’t let her looks fool you…
…as Mumei can literally kick ass as seen here by chopping the Kabane’s head off! Anyways, onto the next episode!
