Well, seems that Rei Kiriyama has a rival named Harunobu Nikaidou and he’s looking forward to challenging him!
Then again, Kiriyama doesn’t remember Nikadou much and also, the letter that Harunobu is holding belongs to Rei.
In any case, looks like there are a few people who sees Kiriyama as a threat and with the upcoming NHK Cup (which is a real tournament sponsored by the same TV broadcasting company who airs this anime), the competition is very tense.
On the other hand, I think Kiriyama needs to take a rest. He’s doesn’t like being pestered by Nikadou very much. Oh yeah and it’s not just Harunobu…
…but also this guy named Issa Matsumoto. Yeah, he sure is fired up to meet Rei Kiriyama!
See what I mean, Issa-san is looking forward to beat Rei so he can have a place at the NHK Cup.
And you know why? Because Matsumoto wants to make his grandfather proud as he competes in the national stage!
However, it seems that the dream has officially dead as Rei Kiriyama beat Issa Matsumoto.
While he did his best, the reason why Issa-san lost is because he always attack all the time, which makes his prone to counter-attacks.
Well then, looks like Issa Matsumoto has gone depressed with his loss to Rei Kiriyama. I have to say, it was his fault for not making defensive strategies.
But you know what, I think it’s time to visit the night club as Issa’s friend Tatsuyuki “Smith” Misumi made that suggestion. Oh and Kiriyama will pay the drinks!
Really guys, I don’t think you should do that. When Kiriyama got invited for a drink, he got drunk even though Rei was a minor!
Anyways, the boys went to the night club and it looks like Akari Kawamoto is there as the club’s hostess.
Well, it’s nice to see Akari wearing a sultry dress compared to her daytime clothes where she tends the family’s sweets shop.
Also, seems that Issa-san got heart-struck towards Akari, but I think Akari’s grandfather won’t allow him to marry her.
By the way, Akari-san was the one who brought Rei Kiriyama to the Kawamoto residence when he’s sobered up by his peers. Glad that he got someone supporting him!
Anyways, let’s end this episode with the Bon Festival. Oh yeah, this is Someji Kawamoto who is the grand-father of the three sisters. Right now, he’s praying for his beloved wife and daughter to come back for this special day.
One last thing, it appears that Rei Kiriyama’s parents have died in a car accident, and most of his relatives didn’t support him when Rei-kun needed the most. Glad that the Kawamoto sisters give light to his dull life!
And now, it’s time for a feast to honor their ancestors. For Rei-kun, it’s the only time he spends with his adoptive family before competing in a prestigious shogi competition.
Well then, I’ll see you on the next episode!
