Hey guys and girls, while you’re enjoying the “Nyan Nyan Shogi” song, it seems that Rei Kiriyama’s opponent is none other than Shouichi Matsunaga, a veteran shogi player who has 40 years of experience.
Sadly, it appears that Matsunaga-san is facing demotion and once he went down to C-2 Class, this veteran shogi player will call it quits.
In any case, the veteran Shouichi Matsunaga has faced the young’un Rei Kiriyama and as predicted, he suffered a loss in which this match will be Matsunaga’s last.
As much as I feel bad for Kiriyama, I also felt sympathy to the veteran shogi player who played the game for 40 years!
In fact, Matsunaga-san is struggling throughout his life, reaching the B Class for one term before being demoted.
With that said, I think it’s time for the next generation to take up the game as Shouichi Matsunaga will hang up his gloves.
Yet, seems that Matsunaga won’t quit just yet as the veteran wants to play shogi… so that he won’t do chores at home. Oh, that was a lame excuse to continue playing!
Still, it’s a good news for Shouichi Matsunaga, but he’ll continue the cycle of struggle until he dies. As for Kiriyama, he might have won his latest match, but he’s still feeling the pressure of being demoted.
With that said, I’ll see you on the next episode…
