This post is brought you by Asuna and Yuna from Sword Art Online The Movie: Ordinal Scale as I’ve watched it yesterday.
While I won’t gonna tell you what happened during the film, all I can say is that SAO: Ordinal Scale is great and it’s made for fans of the series. Oh yeah, and it turns out that there might be a third season in the future, which was shown at the end of the film!
01. Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans
I’m gonna start with Gundam: IBO as Mikazuki Augus’ Gundam Barbatos has been fully-upgraded to its final form: Barbatos Lupus Rex. Yeah, check out those arms!
But enough about technology porn as I’m gonna talk about Tekkadan where they left Teiwaz after avenging Naze Turbine, Amida Arca, and even Lafter Frankland’s death by killing Jasley Donomikols and his company JPT Trust, due to the fact that he leaked information to Iok Kujan (Damn, I wish Iok was killed).
With no place to return now that the Turbines are disbanded (which McMurdo Barristan took care of the remaining crew members), Tekkadan has no other choice but to aid McGills Fareed and his quest to overthrow the Seven Stars, which he’ll reform Gjallarhorn in his image as it turns out that McGills was sexually abused at a young age. In fact, he was inspired by Agnika Kaeiru that McGills wanted to pilot the Gundam Bael and carry his plans fueled by vengeance and ambition. Yeah, shit has his the fan on Iznario’s former fucktoy!
But I have to admit, seems that this show is reaching its climax but I’m worried that Rustal Elion, Vidar (or should I say Gaelio Bauduin) and the whole Arianrhod Fleet are going to crush both McGills’ rebel group and Tekkadan in one fell swoop.
Moving onto élDLIVE where we see the arrival of Ken “Gucchi” Mizoguchi, Chuta Kokonose’s childhood friend who was supposed to be dead but now he’s returned with a vengeance… in a literal sense as Gucchi wants to take everything away from Chuta, including his Monitalien partner Dolugh. Of course, Chuta doesn’t want to give Dolugh to someone else and not only that, but he wants to rescue Gucchi from DeMille who resurrected him after falling down a cliff.
Honestly, I think élDLIVE has gone serious with the arrival of Chuta’s childhood friend/rival. Not only that, but DeMille is ramping up on taking over Earth while doing various criminal activities like hunting down a scientist named Dr. Strangelove. Of course, I’m worried about the story progression as Chuta might not grow into a stronger character before the end of the show.
03. Gabriel DropOut
Next up is Gabriel DropOut and it’s still hilarious as ever especially when Gabriel White Tenma beats Satanichia McDowell Kurumizawa all the time, much to Raphiel Ainsworth Shiraha’s amusement as she loves to troll Satanichia. Of course, Vignette April Tsukinose is the only sane person (and a devil) to act like the rest of humanity.
Anyways, I enjoyed watching Gabriel DropOut and I’m looking forward for the second half of the show. Then again, Gabriel will continue to act like a slob and- Wait, I wish Tapris Sugarbell Chisaki appear in future episodes!
04. Hand Shakers
Before closing out this post, let’s go to Hand Shakers as Tazuna and Koyori are still fighting other Hand Shakers even though they don’t want to battle in the first place. Yet, both Tazuna and Koyori are still winning despite the circumstances, but I feel that the duo is just scratching the surface on this mysterious game where the surviving pair must fight against God or something.
Speaking of the plot, it seems that the progression is at a slow pace, and there’s no indication on who God is and why he/she made a game where Hand Shakers fight in the first place. Heck, I was wondering what secrets lie from Makihara-sensei, the doctor who took care of Koyori Akutagawa before Tazuna Takatsuki became her partner.
Still, the only thing that sells this series is the visuals but I think GoHands are dialing the quality back in later episodes. Maybe they’re saving their budget for the final episode or something… Who knows what will happen next!
02. Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid
And lastly, here’s Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid to close this post as Tohru is doing fine to the human world together with Kobayashi. Not only that, but Tohru’s dragon friends got accustomed to living with humans… Well, almost if it wasn’t for Fafnir’s disdain of people but it seems that he’s warmed up after living with Kobayashi’s co-worker Makoto Takiya.
Gotta say that it still looks great and it’s nice to see Kobayashi and her dragon maid (plus Kanna) living together in harmory. I mean, Kobayashi treated Tohru with respect and love, something that she didn’t experienced back in her old world. So while I’m waiting for some cameo appearances like Kaoru and Hajime from Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru ka Wakaranai Ken, let’s hope that there’s no drama abound on this slice-of-life anime.
And that’s about it for this post as I’ll return in March to cover the rest of the anime. As for Sword Art Online Season 3, we’ll have to wait for further announcements!
