Best of Anime and Cosplay Mania 2017

Two anime conventions, one legendary venue!

Hey guys and girls, it’s time for me to talk about my experience on attending both anime conventions because it’s been a while since I covered both Best of Anime and Cosplay Mania two years ago.

Well, I’ve skipped last year’s Best of Anime in favor of Cosplay Mania 2016, but now I’ve return for both conventions this year (and with more high-quality pics too). So let’s start right away with Best of Anime 2017, but I have to say that I didn’t stay there for long.

Still, the Best of Anime 2017 felt decent upon coming here. Nothing fancy going on during the anime convention as what’s important is the amount of merchandise that you want to pick and buy.

By the way, I’ve only attended Day 2 which has the SPYAIR concert. Of course, I didn’t watch it!

Meanwhile, I’ve managed to get another shot at the Playstation VR. While it costs around P250.00 to play one game, playing THE iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls: Viewing Revolution is the most exciting thing ever!

My first thoughts on this game that it’s a WOTA simulator, with customization options like having the number of kingblades you can handle, the light colors, and even your seating position. While the songs are good despite featuring the full version, I have to say that it’ll be the future when it comes to watching concerts. But then again, it’s not a substitute as it’s recommended to attend the real thing.

Lastly, here’s my loot for Day 2 of Best of Anime 2017 as I’ve only bought a MG Strike Freedom Gundam Full Burst version. Oh, and here’s a Pepero cookies and cream pretzel sticks which was to me for free.

Anyways, I’m done with this year’s Best of Anime as I move onto the biggest anime convention ever…

Yup, it’s Cosplay Mania 2017 as I’ve only attended Day 1 and stayed there until the end. By the way, I didn’t bought any goods during Cosplay Mania as I’m here to see Konomi Suzuki’s concert.

And while I want to go for Day 2 which ELISA has returned to perform there along with Shiena Nishizawa, I skipped it because I need to wrap up for Summer 2017 at that time.

Now then, I have to say that the atmosphere in Cosplay Mania is more lively than Best of Anime as it has many exciting booths, ranging from an arcade section sponsored by Konami (Fuck Konami by the way!) to a Bandai booth full of Gundam plastic models both new and old.

Heck, there’s also some smaller booths where I got to play kendama and somewhat got better at playing at it, but not the best because I still not as good at mastering the kendama toy.

Also, I got to see Seishun Kakumei as they won the previous idol competition in Best of Anime 2017.

Sure that there are a few fans who loved them, but I feel that they need to continue improving themselves in order to stay on top of their game, especially when singing and dancing at the same time.

Still, it was fun watching Seishun Kakumei’s performance and I’d say congratulations to winning the contest in Best of Anime 2017!

Meanwhile, I’ve tried playing Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite on one of the booths and I have to say that the gameplay is sick. So sick that I got bodied twice! Maybe it’s just me pressing the wrong buttons or it’s just that my opponent is a veteran.

But despite having good gameplay, I feel that Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite is not as good as the previous titles. Not just because there’s no X-Men nor Fantastic Four characters due to Marvel’s kindergarten spat towards 20th Century Fox, but because this game was made without passion in mind as Capcom didn’t put too much effort on it.

Lastly, it’s time for the main event because what lies beyond the security personnel is the main stage where it not only hosts the interview of Konomi Suzuki, but also her concert and it was a blast there!

Of course, before moving onto Konomin’s portion of the concert, there’s also kradness who is a known cover singer (or utaite) and I have to say that I’m pumped up on hearing his songs. And as for Konomi Suzuki’s first foray into the Philippines as part of her Asian tour, it was worth watching her perform some of the best songs like “DAYS of DASH” and “This game”.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed Day 1 of Cosplay Mania and I’m hoping that the anime convention will reach new heights for next year. As for Best of Anime, the convention needs to step up their game or they might suffer the same fate as Ozine Fest. Anyways, that’ll be it for this post and I’m hoping that next year will be more exciting for anime conventions in the Philippines!

I want to go to something like this someday! If I have my own work to earn enough money.

  2. Hi. I happen to see your blog, as it was a suggested read by WordPress, and saw that you watched our performance. Thank you so much!

Thank you for that feedback, too. We originally started as a dance (only) cover group, but we’ve been trying to sing lately whenever we have the chance. As singing and dancing at the same time is more challenging than we thought, we’ve been practicing to improve every performance. I hope you can watch us again if you have the chance.

    Have a nice day! 🙂
