This post is brought you by Princess Connect! Re:Dive, an anime made by Cygames’ own studio CygamesPictures where it’s based on their mobile gacha game of the same name, which itself is a sequel/reboot to the original Princess Connect! that was discontinued way back in 2016.
Anyways, the anime adaptation of Priconne has a similar vibe to KonoSuba, which I’m surprised that CygamesPictures hired Takaomi Kanasaki to direct the anime show. Oh yeah and as for the story, it’s about Pecorine and the rest of the Gourmet Guild where they take various quests and find various ingredients to create a scrumptious meal. Of course, the last 3 episodes took a serious turn but then again, Pecorine and her friends managed to save the day.
With that said, Princess Connect! Re:Dive is a success that it become one of Cygames’ biggest-selling franchise alongside Granblue Fantasy, although the game itself will remain in Japan despite the anime series becoming popular worldwide.
Now then, I’m sure that it’s pretty late you see but here are the shows that started its run in Fall 2019 and continue its run through Winter. However, the only show that continue airing till March 2020 was My Hero Academia as Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise resumed in April 2020 which is the start of the 2020 Anime Season.
Unfortunately, Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise got affected with the COVID-19 pandemic which the 2nd half stopped in May and resumed its airing in July. With that said, I’ve decided to talk both shows on this post and I’ll continue to do so until Winter 2019 is finally complete. But seriously though, it would be better if Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise continue its run till March 2020 alongside Sword Art Online: Alicization.
Oh yeah and about Princess Connect! Re:Dive? It was recently announced that there will be another season so I can’t wait for it. Don’t expect Cygames to bring the mobile game outside Japan though unless they unofficially added English translations much like in Granblue Fantasy.
01. Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise
Anyways, let’s start with Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise where the new Build Divers suffered defeat by failing to defend a city named Seguri from being destroyed by a moon-size laser cannon. And while it’s devastating that they failed one thing during the course of their adventure in Eldora, Hiroto Kuga and his allies didn’t give up as they returned to Eldora in hopes that they won’t let Alus destroy everything. Problem is that they might not go back to Gunpla Battle Nexus once they enter to Eldora.
By the way, there’s more information regarding Alus where it not only copies various mobile suits like the Death Army and the Windam, but its true form is pretty menacing to say the least. Still, we don’t know why they want to attack Eldora and how did they capture Masaki Shido to fight for their side, but all I know is that they Alus remained a threat to both GBN and the real world.
With that said, while the 2nd half might get better in succeeding episodes, I have to withhold my judgement if Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise is better than the original or not.
02. My Hero Academia
Of course, I’ll have to end this post with My Hero Academia where Izuku Midoriya and his classmates have returned to U.A. High School, although they’re weary after stopping Shie Hassaikai from using Eri to produce a Quirk-erasing drug. Unfortunately, the finished product went to the League of Villains where they’ll reproduce it in mass quantities and it’ll be a huge problem for heroes in the long run. For the time being, these four heroes will have to take a rest and reflect on what happened on that raid.
But for the rest of Class 1-A, they’ll have to make preparations for the upcoming school festival in U.A. High School because while they want to become heroes, they need to cherish their high school life first. Then again, there would be some omissions as Katsuki Bakugou and Shouto Todoroki will have to retake the provisional hero license exam and pass it with flying colors. However, I feel that these two need to learn the heart of a hero as using brute force won’t make them hero material in the future.
Anyways, see you next time for the halfway point of Winter 2019!
