Winter 2019: The end of the rest…

This post is brought you by My Hero Academia where I give you this amazing shot of Katsuki Bakugou and Izuku Midoriya from the second movie titled My Hero Academia: Heroes:Rising.

Anyways, this movie tells the story of U.A. High School’s Hero Class 1-A as they went to Nabu Island to help the locals there, as well as stopping a group of villains who want to create a new world order. Of course, Deku and his friends will have to stop those villains on their own as they face various difficulties, especially when dealing a villain named Nine who can steal quirks just like All For One and he needs a cell activation quirk to make his plan work.

Fortunately, Nine and his fellow villains are defeated thanks to Class 1-A, although I have to give major props to Bakugou and Midoriya where they set aside their differences and work together to defeat Nine as Izuku shared his One For All to Katsuki. Of course, it’s just temporary as Izuku’s quirk returned to him while Katsuki didn’t remember a single thing about obtaining One For All. C’mon, we can’t have a time paradox on this show y’know!

01. My Hero Academia

And speaking of My Hero Academia, let’s start this post as we’ve reached the end of the 4th Season where Izuku Midoriya managed to stop both Gentle Criminal and La Brava from disrupting the festival in U.A. High School. Of course, both villains weren’t evil to begin with because they didn’t do anything harmful unlike the League of Villains. Speaking of Gentle Criminal or Danjuro Tobita, he was once dreamed of becoming a hero, but made a botch attempt of rescuing someone which shunned him forever. And as for La Brava or Manami Aiba, she was mocked by her crush due to her stalker attitude until Gentle Criminal came along and changed her life forever. So while both of them surrendered to the authorities, there’s a chance and Gentle Criminal and La Brava will turn on a new leaf.

Also, the school festival at U.A. High School went without a hitch and it’s all thanks to Class 1-A of the Hero Course where they not only made a stunning performance to liven up everyone’s spirits, but also made Eri-chan smile again after being tormented by Kai Chisaki. Oh yeah, and Endeavor has officially become the No. 1 Hero after All Might’s retirement, although I would prefer Hawks over Endeavor as the top hero. Still, Endeavor has a long way to go to live up everyone’s expectation as he not only solidifies his position, but also face his troubled past with his family.

Well then, I’m really surprised that Season 4 of My Hero Academia is the best one so far where the story has taken its dark turn during the first half, especially when dealing with Shie Hassaikai. While saving Eri-chan from Overhaul has taken many sacrifices including the death of Sir Nighteye, there’s still some light at the end of the tunnel during the 2nd half where you have harmless villains such as Gentle Criminal and La Brava who want to start over their lives, the school festival, and Endeavor’s rise to the top. Regardless, I can’t wait for Studio BONES to take My Hero Academia to the next level, but we’ll never know when will Season 5 begins.

02. Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise

And now let’s end this post with Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise where Hiroto Kuga and his friends made some significant progress in their battle against Alus and his one-eyed army that threatened the new inhabitants in Eldora. First off, they rescued Masaki Shido from Alus’ control that he and Cuadorn aided them in destroying the satellite cannon. Oh yeah, and Cuadorn’s wings were fixed by Parviz using Gunpla parts.

But let’s talk about Alus where it seems that he’s not evil but rather misguided as Alus missed his fellow Ancients for a very long time, which is why he vented his frustration on Freddie and his fellow New People where they suffered a lot. But in the end, Alus was defeated thanks to Hiroto Kuga and his friends, plus various players from Gunpla Battle Nexus, as they save both Eldora and their online game. However, it’s not the end of all this as a new El-Diver is born from Alus’ soul, so it seems that there’s a happy ending in Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise. And one more thing, Hinata Mukai entered GBN as a member of the new Build Divers (or BUILD DiVERS).

Anyways, I have to say that Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise is an improvement over the original. For one, the stakes are high where the protagonists must not only protect GBN, but also Eldora where it’s very distinctive from the online game. Aside from having an improved story and some great characters, there’s some exploration regarding the lore where it’s speculated that the Ancients left Eldora and migrated into Gunpla Battle Nexus where we have Eve and Sarah. Of course, there’s one outlier in regards to that theory as Freddie is also reincarnated from the Ancients, which is quite puzzling that Alus didn’t realize it sooner until it’s too late. So while those speculations will remained unanswered, I’m really convinced that Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise is a better show than the original.

With that said, I’m gonna end this post with the final shot of Gundam Build Divers Re:Rise. While we’re not gonna see a reincarnated Eve ever again, her lineage lives on to various El-Divers such as Sarah and May. What a fitting ending to the Build Divers saga.

And while we’re at it, there’s still more to come from Gundam Build Divers as there will be a mini series coming up this Fall. I can’t wait for it!
