Kei Sazane, the author behind Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou, Aruiwa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen (or KimiSen), has returned for a new light novel series published in MF Bunko J where humans called Apostles must battle against gods in a series of games until they achieve total victory.
This is Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru. (or Gods’ Games We Play outside Japan) where it tells the story of Fay Theo Philus or Fay for short, an Apostle where he won 3 Gods’ Games so far and he needs 7 more to achieve total victory or Clear. Aside from that, Fay has an ability or Arise where he won’t die.
Accompanying Fay Theo Philus is Chief Secretary Miranda where she wants him to meet a certain person who’s addicted to games. Also, it said to be a former god who woken up after a thousand-year slumber in the arctic.
Anyways, I would like to introduce you to Leoleshea, a former god who plays various games inside the apartment after waking up. Oh yeah, seems that Fay remembered someone after seeing Leoleshea’s appearance.
You see, there was a time Fay played games with a girl with red hair. Now, it’s impossible that this lady and Leoleshea are one and the same, but Fay can’t deny the similarities.
Well then, it’s time for Leoleshea to play a memory game with Fay Theo Philus. Of course, the difference is that all of the cards are shuffled in mid-air and whoever gets the same cards will have to answer the questions honestly.
So for example, if Fay managed to get two “hometown” cards, he’ll answer his place of birth to Leoleshea. Oh, and he can’t cheat his way or Leoleshea will unleash hell towards him and the entire world.
And by the way, Chief Secretary Miranda is observing them from a safe room using a hidden camera. The only thing she’s worried is Fay accidentally angering a former god.
Anyways, looks like Leoleshea got a matching pair of blank cards, meaning that she can ask any question to Fay.
And speaking of Leoleshea, she suddenly became angry where the former god asks Fay on what’s his main goal in getting closer to a former god like her. This is really bad as Leoleshea might destroy the world if Fay answered her question incorrectly.
Anyways, Fay told Leoleshea that the reason why he’s here is because he was asked by Miranda to keep an eye on the former god, as well as finding her origins and true motives. Let’s hope that Leoleshea accepts his answer.
And to give proof that he doesn’t lie, Fay shows his proof that he won 3 gods’ games. By the way, those who won 10 games will receive a Celebration where it could be anything they desire.
One last thing, it seems that Leoleshea, or Leshea from now on, wants to regain her godhood by winning gods’ games alongside Fay. That’s her wish upon getting the Celebration.
With that said, let’s end this episode where Fay Theo Philus and Leoleshea will travel to another dimension and play gods’ games there.
Now for my initial thoughts as Kami wa Game ni Ueteiru. has some similarities with No Game No Life, but the first episode didn’t broke the mold so far apart from introducing themselves.
Sure that there’s a genius rookie and a former god working together, but I need to know more about the gods’ games and why they exists. Could it be that those games are a way to judge humanity’s future? Maybe.
Anyways, I’ll see you next time where Fay and Leshea will fight a giant destroy a city. I hope that they survive and win this game!
Oh and one more thing, should an Apostle lose 3 times, they no longer have the right to compete in gods’ games anymore.
